3 DAY WORKSHOP: October 27th, 28th, 29th

HE’S BACK! Holder Dane is delighted to be hosting Philippe Faraut’s 3-Day Portrait Sculpture Workshop again in 2023. Individuals will receive one to one sculpting instruction using water-based clay from Mr. Faraut, while still being encouraged to explore their own styles. Several lectures and demonstrations, on proportions, anatomy and the use of planes in the construction of the head will be provided prior to student exercises. Live models will be used during class. Participants are welcome to keep any projects worked on during the seminar. All materials are provided for use during the seminar. Firing services will not be available during the workshop.

This seminar will be held at Holder Dane Gallery run by artist Pat Bodnyk. The studio is located at 701 S Main St, #100 Grapevine, TX 76051 which is 7 minutes from the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. 

3 DAY WORKSHOP: September 29th, 30th, & October 1st

“LOOSEN UP AND ADD LIFE TO YOUR PAINTINGS WHILE EXPERIENCING JOY THROUGH THE PROCESS”

The dual focus of this workshop is:

#1 to encourage a positive mindset as we move toward our goals.

#2 learn & practice skills, principles and techniques which are the tools that allow us to strengthen and develop our artistic intuition.

Julie Wende, who specializes in portraits and figure painting and works in oils, watercolor and gouache, will lead a TWO DAY WORKSHOP on June 10th & 11th at Holder Dane called "A Day at the Beach. Participants will learn how to use her impressionist method and hand-chosen materials to paint figurative light and shadows within a beach scene, getting a firsthand look at Wende's technique of using dramatic brushstrokes against contrasting shadows.

Holder Dane Gallery is hosting an intensive two-day workshop with gallery artist Sally Arant. She will be demonstrating and sharing her techniques and art mediums for the first time.

Students will learn how to use textural mediums, copper, bronze and iron metal coatings, patinas, paint. Sally will show how to imbed dimensional materials into the metal coatings, as each student will creates two art pieces on heavy-duty gallery wrapped canvas.

Experience Pamela’s approach to painting through presentations, hands-on exercises and practice. Each student will receive individual attention and be encouraged to experiment with techniques they might never have tried.

Learn to loosen up your brushwork and trust your artistic instincts as you develop skills designed to increase your confidence and encourage daily practice habits.

Color mixing, color harmony and composition will be discussed as well as using technology as a tool. We will paint from a live model the first day and on day two and three we will focus on Pamela’s process of gathering and preparing photos to paint from.

Pamela hopes each artist will leave her workshop inspired to continue pursuing their personal artistic growth with a renewed focus on experiencing joy in the journey.
