Ray Maines
T. R. Maines is an accomplished photographer with a BS degree in Illustrative Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied with fine art instructors such as Minor White, Ralph Hattersley and Charles Arnold. Currently his work is in digital format produced in both black and white as well as color. While most of Ray’s work is digital, many film negatives from his past work, have also been scanned to be reproduced in digital print.
Images are found where ever travel takes Ray. His eye tends to see images which are abstract or which can be abstracted through the digital process. Fragments, details and specific areas of images often attract his attention. An awareness of light and the ability to utilize it to best enhance the effect on the final image is a signature quality of Ray’s work.
All of his finished work is produced in a digital darkroom. The usual photographic techniques are applied digitally. In addition, some of the images are further manipulated in Photoshop and other software using techniques only available in the digital format. Finished ORIGINAL images are Limited Edition archival giclée prints. Each image is produced in an Edition of 100. Printing is done with archival pigmented inks on watercolor paper or canvas in a variety of sizes and available with custom framing.
